This was a multicenter quality improvement study conducted in the United States, Europe, and South America utilizing a multifaceted intervention to facilitate compliance with selected guideline recommendations for the management of severe sepsis [ 45].
At each organization, a multidisciplinary steering committee reviewed the Toolkit and planned the implementation of the selected guideline in their setting.
