The phrase "a sample of the text" is correct and usable in written English.
You can use it when referring to a portion or excerpt taken from a larger body of text for analysis or illustration.
Example: "In this report, I will provide a sample of the text to highlight the author's main arguments."
Alternatives: "an excerpt from the text" or "a portion of the text".
