COS-7 cells that coexpressed mCherry-espin with either phosphomutant protein, GFP-S38D fascin 2b (Figure 4E H) or GFP-S38E fascin 2b (Figure 4I L), displayed a robust formation of long filopodia laden with espin, but these protrusions lacked the phosphomutant proteins.
