The phrase "a reversion from a" is correct and usable in written English.
It can be used in contexts discussing a return to a previous state or condition, often in relation to policies, practices, or behaviors.
Example: "The company announced a reversion from a more flexible work-from-home policy to a traditional office setup."
Alternatives: "a return from a" or "a shift back from a".
A reversion from the mutant strain to its WT, contamination of the mutant strain culture by its WT or invasion by grazers would result in rapid reduction or disappearance of the mutant.
However, regardless of whether the common ancestor is C3 or C4, the most parsimonious explanation of photosynthetic pathway evolution in the Alloteropsis forest shade group is that the C3 subspecies of A. semialata represents a reversion from C4 photosynthesis (Fig. 3).
