The phrase "a reporting period" is correct and usable in written English.
It can be used when referring to a specific duration of time during which financial or operational data is collected and reported.
Example: "The financial statements will be prepared for a reporting period of six months ending June 30th."
Alternatives: "an accounting period" or "a financial reporting timeframe."
