Both types have been detected worldwide as rare cases in older animals, at a low prevalence consistent with the possibility of sporadic forms of prion diseases in cattle (6 ).
This relationship was most strongly observed in countries with a high HIV prevalence, consistent with the notion that large global health initiatives have played a role in the changing epidemiology of HIV-related and, thereby, all-cause adult mortality.
A mean ODD prevalence consistent with the worldwide-pooled prevalence was found; but diagnostic stability was much lower compared to ADHD.
We did not find strong evidence for significant temporal variation of disease prevalence (consistent with a previous study [ 72]), but we acknowledge that the differences in specificity and sensitivity of diagnosis tests may have contributed to the heterogeneities in prevalence levels.
