There is a clear indication of prevailing orientation of M1 molecules for different directions of the applied field (see upper part of Fig. 4).
It is worth observing that, although the metrics adopted in the above evaluation phase are derived from [10], a direct comparison of the results obtained by the proposed technique with achievements reported in the reference paper is not feasible since in [10] the prevailing orientation of a whole patch is extracted, rather than the orientation of each single brushstroke.
Previous studies on cleavage plane orientation in APs have shown that the switch from symmetric to asymmetric division can be caused by a deviation of the cleavage plane from the prevailing orientation parallel to the apical-basal axis of the VZ [4], [14], [21], [39] [41].
As each slab solidifies and cools, the magnetic minerals in the new oceanic crust become magnetized in accordance with the prevailing orientation and alignment of the Earth's fluctuating magnetic field.
In these cases, brushstroke description includes attributes such as average length, mean curvature, and prevailing orientation.
