The phrase "a preservation area" is correct and usable in written English.
It can be used to refer to a designated space or region that is protected for the purpose of conserving natural resources, wildlife, or historical sites.
Example: "The government has established a preservation area to protect the endangered species that inhabit the region."
Alternatives: "a conservation zone" or "a protected site".
