In a city-quarter such as NW, urban design can be interpreted as a practice of spatial intervention.
As a practice of liminality, targeted arts-based interventions can generate the relational and transitional spaces, characterised by security, social integration, therapeutic experiences and capabilities (Fleuret and Atkinson, 2007), within which resources may be built and mobilised to effect the gains in a situated personal wellbeing (Kesby, 2007; Winnicott, 1971).
