This paper describes nominal and off-nominal behavioral patterns, fault tolerance features designed into the Rover system (hardware and software), several off-nominal scenarios that are accommodated by the design, and some lessons learned from this development effort.
The first is the different sites of remaining oil owing to the configuration of faults and formation occurrence (Qi 2004), fault combination pattern, fault linkage status (hard linkage, soft linkage, cross linkage, superimposed deformation, etc).
