The phrase "a pattern containing" is correct and usable in written English.
It can be used when describing a specific arrangement or design that includes certain elements or features.
Example: "The research focused on a pattern containing various geometric shapes that repeated throughout the artwork."
Alternatives: "a design that includes" or "a configuration featuring".
