The phrase "a patch of color" is correct and usable in written English.
It can be used to describe a small area or section that is filled with a specific color, often in artistic or descriptive contexts.
Example: "The artist added a vibrant patch of color to the otherwise monochrome canvas."
Alternatives: "a splash of color" or "a spot of color."
