As shown in Fig. 2c, the ideal partition point set of an M-band MWT is denser than that of a 2-band counterpart (see Fig. 2a).
Now the tessellation of the contour is defined by deforming the tessellation of the sphere to the contour: each partition point ({mathbf {s}} in {mathbb {S}}) gets mapped to c(s)s on the contour.
Hence, numerous subsets corresponding to different multiwavelet bases (or packets) can be found in its partition point set, one of which will match the properties of the analyzed signals better than all the others.
A total of 11 domain-pairs were segmented at the first step to obtain the first partition point (Table 2 and Table S4).
The difference in location between the first partition point and the nearest domain boundary was considered the offset in distinguishing two domains.
