Use of GLYDE notation is found to be quite feasible, since only our database indicates the relationships among biological objects relating to glycans.
The first device to be considered a true notation system was found in Cervera, Catalonia (now part of Spain): two manuscript pages, dated from the 15th century, revealed the first use of signs to represent the letter abbreviations used in Renaissance Italy, France, and Spain to record the popular basse danses ("low dances").
However, significant main effect of Notation and Magnitude by Notation interaction were found for both error rates and RTs data in the parafoveal condition (Error rates: Notation, F (1, 18) = 23.76, p<.001, Magnitude by Notation, F (1, 18) = 26.18, p<.001; RTs: Notation, F (1, 18) = 20.22, p<.001, Magnitude by Notation, F (1, 18) = 7.44, p<.05).
It is found that in the combination of partial differentiation with the chain rule of differentiation, a specific notation is needed and a suggestion is presented.

However, during construction of the maps described here the notation system was found to be too limiting to convey certain biological concepts and overly complicated for others.
