The volcanoes of some belts are built on a high range that is more of a long, narrow plateau than a mountain range, for relief on it is not necessarily great.
To the south is another narrow plateau, followed by a gradual descent to the surrounding land.
It sits on relatively high ground on the narrow plateau and steep slopes of the North Downs, with the western tip of Marden Park separated from the rest of the wood by Chaldons Farm.
