The phrase "a more current example" is correct and usable in written English.
You can use it when you want to refer to a recent instance or illustration that is relevant to the topic being discussed.
Example: "To better understand the impact of climate change, let's look at a more current example from this year's weather patterns."
Alternatives: "a more recent example" or "a newer example".
