The phrase "a majority of dogs" is correct and usable in written English.
It can be used when discussing the larger portion or more than half of a group of dogs in various contexts, such as surveys, studies, or general observations.
Example: "A majority of dogs prefer to play fetch over any other game."
Alternatives: "most dogs" or "the greater part of dogs".
