Among the winners sampled were a creamy yet light cheesecake with warm raspberry sauce, a very rich chocolate truffle cake and a warm, moist, roasted pecan and cranberry bread pudding with a whisky-cranberry-butter sauce.
The result is a light, moist cheesecake with plenty of body and plenty of flavor.
A few desserts were heavenly: the peaches; a mixed berry tart with its silky custard and fragile crust; a moist, nutty chocolate cake; and a light ricotta cheesecake scented with almond extract.
