They argue that, in the past, transnational marriages were characterised by three features: first, more mainland females marrying overseas males; second, a large age gap between the couples; and third, more remarriage rather than the first marriage.

Comparing the results with the baseline performance in Table 3, it can be seen that larger age gaps between the probe and the gallery result in larger dissimilarities in facial features and hence the failure of the LBP and its variants to effectively capture the intra-class similarities and the inter-class dissimilarities.
