We have shown that cultured PGCs have the expected distinctive cellular morphology consisting of a large nucleus and a cluster of large vacuoles present in the cytoplasm (Fig. 3).
The peripheral zone was located under the skin and contained elongated cells (8 10 μm) with a large nucleus occupying most of the cell, and a light cytoplasm.
Axolotl glial cells have a large nucleus that occupies much of the cytoplasm; therefore, the staining appears at the apical side of the cell adjacent to the central canal.

The elongated and flat cell phenotype with a small cell volume and large nucleus of IPEC-1 and IPEC-J2 cells cultured on conventional dishes and membranes was already reported by Schierack et al. (2006) and Gonzalez-Vallina et al. (1996).
It happens when atomic nuclei slam together with such force that they fuse together into a larger nucleus, releasing a small portion of the mass of the original nuclei as a tremendous amount of energy.
