The phrase "a large host range" is correct and usable in written English.
It can be used when discussing the variety of hosts that a particular organism, such as a virus or parasite, can infect or interact with.
Example: "The newly discovered virus has a large host range, affecting not only humans but also various animal species."
Alternatives: "a broad host range" or "a wide host range".
