With the directness of the autodidact, and the lack of embarrassment of someone who, on some level, is past caring, he rambles happily on, unconsciously emphasising his central preoccupation as a knowledge-seeker, an experience-ferreter, and someone who appears to enjoy being carried along by life.
For others, with more of a spiritual bent, it might take the shape of "knowing God" or "knowing the Self". Regardless of the knowledge-seeking motivation that drives a given individual, all knowledge seekers share one thing in common -- and that is a thirst to understand something they don't yet understand -- an insight, know-how, or epiphany they believe will add more value to their lives.
