The phrase "a kind of relation" is correct and usable in written English.
It can be used when describing a specific type or category of relationship between entities, concepts, or phenomena.
Example: "In this study, we explore a kind of relation between social media usage and mental health outcomes."
Alternatives: "a type of relationship" or "a form of connection".
However, when thinking in term of diseases, these relations translate into "is-a-kind-of" relations, e.g. bronchial diseases are a kind of respiratory diseases.
The number of levels of "is-a-kind-of" relations that can be represented is limited by the pictogram complexity because deeper relations would imply more complex pictograms.
