The Hawthorne Council approved by a 3-2 vote a mobile home relocation ordinance that could help residents who face eviction when a mobile home park closes.
The measure would require park owners to file a "mobile home relocation impact report" before seeking approval to convert the land to another use.

(2) After a State home is recognized, any new annex, new branch, or other expansion in the size or capacity of a home or any relocation of the home to a new facility must be separately recognized.
The updated mitigated negative declaration considered the demolition of the mobile homes, relocation of utilities, the construction of block wall, traffic impacts and impacts to the social fabric on the mobile home park community, among other items.
"It is not the firm's policy to reimburse employees for losses incurred on the sale of a home in connection with a relocation and no such reimbursement is included in the amounts listed as moving expense," JP Morgan said.
Liam St. John Murphy, a former relocation specialist who is editor and publisher of The Relocation Report, a twice-monthly newsletter on relocation issues, noted that under such circumstances, holding onto a home may make sense as a hedge against the unknown.
