And second, the overall contact area is suddenly increased, leading to a higher pull-off force, which is reflected in the absolute value of the pull-off force, the increase in the tensile part of Figure 2b which corresponds to the work of adhesion, and in the increasing number of detachment events as shown in Figure 2b.
