The phrase "a high selection frequency" is correct and usable in written English.
It can be used in contexts related to statistics, data analysis, or any field where the frequency of selection is relevant.
Example: "In our study, we observed a high selection frequency of the preferred option among participants."
Alternatives: "a frequent selection rate" or "a high occurrence rate".
Locations with high selection frequency (measured as one deviation from the mean) were located in the north-western, southern and eastern boundaries, in addition to two areas around Cape Point (Fig 5b).
Other areas with high selection frequencies overlapped with benthic classes that had targets of 30%.

We did find that the eastern and northwestern parts of our study region also had higher selection frequencies.
Other offshore areas, mainly along the north-western and southern boundary, also had higher selection frequencies, because of the high cost effectiveness of achieving targets in these locations.
This area overlapped with the highest frequency of both upwelling and downwelling eddies and filaments (Fig 3d e) and probably explains why higher selection frequencies resulted (Fig 5a).
When benthic biodiversity was included in the prioritization (Fig 8a,b), there were more areas with higher selection frequencies, indicating less spatial flexibility in the configuration of protected areas (Fig 8c).
The effective size of European populations since the Neolithic Era was certainly higher than 10,000; but the chosen value is conservative to detect selection, as the higher the effective population size, the weaker the genetic drift and, consequently, the smaller the probability for a rare mutation to reach a high frequency without selection.
