The phrase "a gross image" is correct and usable in written English.
It can be used to describe an image that is unpleasant, offensive, or distasteful in some way.
Example: "The horror movie was filled with a gross image of the monster that made many viewers uncomfortable."
Alternatives: "an unpleasant image" or "a repulsive image".
