Sequences are aligned and many 2-splits are made, such that for a given split each of the two resulting groups contains the same number of sequences and each group contains the same canonical sequence (used for numbering and structural mapping).
It is therefore necessary to test whether strong support for a given split in an aggregate tree is found consistently in all or a majority of the contributing entities (i.e., single-gene alignments or individual phylogenetic trees).
In our implementation, for a given split sentence, if its previous line in the original raw text was an empty line, the value of the layout feature was 1, or otherwise it was 0. Take the line starting with the section "Name:" of Table 1 as an example.
To quantify the number of genes potentially decisive for a given split, and also the number within this set that actually support the split in question, we employed a custom Python script (parse_gene_trees.py), built using the ETE2 library (Huerta-Cepas et al., 2010), to parse the set of individual ML gene trees (see also Fernández et al., 2014).

We also introduce an empirical approach to compute the 'optimal' number of summands in real space and Fourier space corresponding to a given splitting parameter.
Split-brain studies [ 1] have definitively demonstrated that each hemisphere is capable of simultaneous, autonomous mentation that can extend to the psychological properties of each hemisphere in a given split-brain patient [ 38, 39].
Unlike unrooted tree, a split network may use several parallel edges to represent any given split.
Based on information and assets entered by the developer, Toro can automatically generate what Mahajan says are "hundreds of variants" of a given campaign, split test all of them to find what works best, and adjust budgets on-the-fly.
For a given 2-split, pair scoring methods are computed for each subalignment and the results visualized as an undirected, dense, weighted graph in which residues are nodes and edge weights between nodes correspond to the pair score.
Each set of equivalent hydrogens on a given carbon is split into an n+1 multiplet by adjacent hydrogen atoms that are nonequivalent to the hydrogens of the given carbon.
We extracted text from all pages associated with a given website, then split the text into sentences using the OpenNLP sentence breaker for C#.
