The micronucleus contains the complete Tetrahymena genome whereas the genomic complexity of the macronucleus (derived from the micronucleus during sexual reproduction) is reduced by ∼33% through programmed DNA elimination (http://www.broadinstitute.org/annotation/genome/Tetrahymena/MultiHome.html).html
Our results provide a new insight into the genomic complexity of breast cancer.
