A case study of the Stockholm Royal Seaport project is analysed to demonstrate how to apply the simulation model to assess a DR program by simulating consumers' behaviour change in response to the DR signals.
This paper develops a simulation model to investigate the joint influence of price and CO2 signals in a DR program in the ex ante evaluation.
The results obtained suggest that the proposed strategy may encourage more consumers to participate and may give electric utilities a better estimation of the consumer acceptance of a DR program.
The next section presents the development of a visualisation tool that assists in designing a DR program to deliver desired peak load reductions while maintaining satisfactory level of comfort for all customers.
In addition to explaining the severity of kick-back effect through illustrative examples, this paper proposes several methods to mitigate the critical kick-back effect in DR while maintaining the expected value of DR. The proposed methods are applied to a DR program that aims at using thermostatically controlled heating of residential houses for peak shaving.
In this paper, both categories of DR are modeled based on the demand-price elasticity concept to design an optimum scheme for achieving the maximum benefit of DR. The objective is to not only reduce costs and improve reliability but also to increase customer acceptance of a DR program by limiting price volatility.
