Furthermore, the cytoplasm of morphologically mature ganglion cells displayed a different staining pattern for chromogranin A, with patchy and mainly peri-nuclear signal (compare Fig. 2: B and Fig. 1: G).
Oil Red O staining on Day 7 also resulted in a different staining pattern in K+-treated AD cells: staining was diffuse and fairly uniform throughout the sample, revealing tiny lipid droplet formation mostly at the periphery of the cells (Fig. 4A,B), compared to the more extensive lipid droplet formation in AD cells (Fig. 4E,F).
