In the lower rise, the sediment waves display a consistent decrease in wavelength with increasing water depth.
Stresses generated by externally applied loads, on the other hand, always lead to a decrease in the instability wavelength compared with the Rayleigh instability wavelength.
At the same time, the pore widening causes a decrease in the central wavelength as it decreases the overall effective refractive index of each cycle in the DBR.
