The phrase "a consequence of linkage" is correct and usable in written English.
It can be used when discussing the results or effects that arise from a connection or relationship between two or more elements.
Example: "The increase in biodiversity is often seen as a consequence of linkage between various ecosystems."
Alternatives: "an outcome of connection" or "a result of association".
Thus it is more likely that the RsaI negative allele affects the phenotype directly rather than being a consequence of linkage disequilibrium from another mutation or gene.
Experiments examining polymorphism of the HLA-DRB1 gene established that these relationships are not a consequence of linkage disequilibrium with HLA-DRB1 alleles implicated in this pathology.
