The phrase "a conception of value" is correct and usable in written English.
It can be used when discussing theories, beliefs, or interpretations regarding what is considered valuable in a particular context.
Example: "In economics, a conception of value can greatly influence market behavior and consumer choices."
Alternatives: "an understanding of value" or "a notion of value".
