The phrase "a common frequency in" is correct and usable in written English.
It can be used when discussing the regular occurrence of something within a specific context or area.
Example: "The study found a common frequency in the occurrence of the disease among different age groups."
Alternatives: "a typical rate in" or "a prevalent occurrence in".
