The phrase "a character upon" is not commonly used in written English and may sound awkward.
It could be used in a literary context, perhaps when discussing a character's actions or presence in a story or play.
Example: "The author created a character upon whom the entire plot hinges, making their decisions crucial to the story's outcome."
