We define the support of a category of rating 'R' as the interval between the extreme sizes where µR s)>0, the core as the interval between the extreme sizes that compose the 1-cut, and the peripheries as the difference between support and core.

We examined cancer incidence in relation to four categories of total duration of OC use (never used, 1 48 months, 49 96 months, 97 or more months), and to five categories of interval since last OC use (never used, 1 48 months, 49 144 months, 145 240 months, 241 or more months).
Univariate analyses demonstrated that there were significant relationships between the category of QTc interval and patient sex (Table 1).

This is the smallest number of enriched categories of any interval, reflecting the relatively small number of significant transcriptional changes that occur between these time points.
The odds ratio of small for gestational age birth was estimated at 1.08 for all three categories of interpregnancy interval less than 18 months.
Analyses using further sub-categories of the interval between first and repeat baseline testing beyond 2 years did not alter these conclusions.
