Zinc finger proteins (ZFPs) are a category of DNA-binding proteins that bind to DNA and RNA and other proteins through a 'finger-shaped' fold stabilized by zinc ions (Brown, 2005; Dhanasekaran et al., 2006; Hall, 2005; Johnston et al., 2006; Negi et al., 2008).
