Now at the center of an apparent hate crime hoax, Jussie Smollett was introduced to Hollywood as part of the talented Smollett family in the ABC sitcom "On Our Own". Those who worked with the future "Empire" star described him as "a loving caring kid". For the hundreds who supported Smollett at the Troubadour after his alleged attack, reports that he faked the whole thing are a blow.
"He's always been a really sensitive, caring kid, always looking after others," his mother, Dahna Sanderson, said.
"She's a genuine, sweet caring kid," he said.
"She was a foster care kid when she came," said Dr. McFarland.
"The most powerful factor in transforming students is a relationship with a caring teacher who a kid feels particularly connected to," said Dr. Ancess, who added that many students had told her that if not for a particular teacher, they would not have graduated or would not have taken a certain direction.
