The phrase "a broad estimate" is correct and usable in written English.
It can be used when referring to an approximation that is not precise and covers a wide range of possibilities.
Example: "The project will cost a broad estimate of between $10,000 and $50,000, depending on various factors."
Alternatives: "a rough estimate" or "a general estimate".
The figures are a broad estimate.
