Regarding "Honoring That Promise of Detention Reform" (editorial, Sept. 22) and "Border fantasies" (editorial, Sept. 23): The failure to improve the subhuman conditions in America's immigration jails and the obsession with building bigger and better fences along America's Mexican border, while doing nothing about real immigration reform, are symptoms of a deeper disturbance in U.S. society.
