In some religions the benevolent aspect of providence appears as grace, and a discussion may arise about the relationship between free will and grace.
Although cosmic order is necessarily a general idea comprising the whole of the world and all that exists in it, the concept of providence may be more particular: the benevolent aspect of providence may be confined to a special group of people or at least be specially related to that group, or a number of patron gods or saints may watch over some specific activity or smaller group.
"The Kindly Ones" — the title refers to the Eumenides, the benevolent aspect of the Erinyes, or Furies — certainly presents itself as a serious work of art, and it doesn't wear its heaviness lightly.
