Voters going to the polls here on Feb. 22 will receive a single ballot including not only the Republican primary candidates but also some local referendums and at least one race for county commissioner.
Kemp's office posted an Excel file on its website within hours of the results of the general election, exposing the names and addresses of state residents who mailed in an absentee ballot — including their reason why, such as if a person is "disabled" or "elderly".
That is, they had voted in every other race — a few dozen were on the ballot, including a gubernatorial contest — but abstained in the Jennings-Buchanan fight.
The commission also agreed to put a range of other issues on the November ballot, including a proposal to reduce by about 50 percent the number of signatures required to get on a ballot.
That could price out the health groups from their cigarette tax campaign and imperil all other measures trying to make the ballot, including an extension of a key tax increase known as Proposition 30.
Mr. Solomon also articulated several other arguments against trying to get on the 2010 ballot, including a lack of enthusiasm from major donors and a sense that greater numbers of young voters who support gay rights will turn out — and be of voting age — in 2012, a presidential election year.
This research studied bias pertaining to: (i) the order in which sensory attributes are placed within a CATA question, and (ii) the order of a sensory CATA question within an extended product assessment ballot (including product-elicited emotions, purchase intention and overall liking).
But with little interest in other races on the ballot, including a pair of meaningless presidential primaries, turnout was low across the state.
Unfortunately, while the court-packing was rejected, other mischievous changes were approved for the ballot, including a provision to allow the Legislature to repeal procedural rules set by the court.
The number of registered voters who cast ballots in New York City — apparently under 30 percent — seemed to be lower than in upstate (it was 44 percent in Erie County), and it plunged even more for the two proposals to revise the City Charter that appeared on the back of the ballot, including a measure to limit politicians to two consecutive terms.
