What propositions are is, of course, highly contested, but most agree that a proposition carves the class of possibilities into two sub-classes — those in which the proposition is true and those in which it is false.
Is it simply indeterminate what propositions are?
A valuation indicates for every state what propositions are true in it.
This leaves it open what propositions are: sentences, statements, states of affairs, or whatever.
But it is notable that of these three views, only one — possible worlds semantics — actually tells us what propositions are.
If this is what propositions are, then the nominalist needs a satisfactory nominalistic account of ordered sets.
