It is believed to be the only significant film footage of Saint-Exupéry in existence and is expected to fetch at least €50,000 when it is auctioned at Sotheby's in Paris on 18 May.
Both features were separately offered in director's cuts with much of the surface grime removed and significant new footage added — some 24 minutes in the case of Mr. Tarantino's film.
And the environmental benefit was significant: the square footage of material used was much smaller, and the cardboard was recycled and recyclable.
Incidentally, it is surely significant that the footage of the notorious police attack on the civil rights march in Derry in October 1968, was shot by Ireland's broadcaster, RTÉ, rather than the locally-based BBC.
