Until recently, despite evidence that many of them had done nothing particularly remarkable, the compensation of executives seemed destined to grow ever bigger.
However, to our surprise, the thermodynamic parameters for the binding of hydroxamate- and thiol-SAHA to HDAC8 showed a remarkable enthalpy entropy compensation effect, which is manifested in an only 0.9 kcal/mol difference in the standard free energy (Δ G °) change between these ligands (Table 1).
