The design of multiple replicate pools of distinct individuals was chosen as it decreases quantification error by reducing quantification error variance proportionally to the number of times a single pool is independently constituted (3 times), and measurement error variance by the number of independent analysis (24 times) [23].
Dilutions of RT products are often used to minimize post-RT inhibitory effects [5], [10], [12], [13], [17], [18], although this has the negative consequence of reducing quantification precision, which is especially problematic when dealing with very low copy templates, such as those obtained from archival tissues.
