It's one of those books that can cast a spell, and under its spell, you can read it many times and each time feel as if you're reading it anew.
Reading it anew is a completely different experience.
It is, however, a novel with moments of such extraordinary beauty and quiet power that it is impossible, having read it, not to look at the world anew.
But the episode raises anew the question, always lurking in the cathedral, of who decides what we're allowed to read, and how we're supposed to read it.
I read it in fits and spurts, and each time I stopped and started, it was like starting over from the beginning; the momentum of its who's-who circularity had to rev up anew.
Read it.
We need to learn it anew.
Still, I view the books as a lovely and serendipitous summons an unlikely invitation to read anew, to read afresh.
Take stories as read, and anew I wish adults read aloud to each other more often.
