Addressing the tragedy in a statement, presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney said, "Ann and I extend our thoughts and prayers to the victims of today's shooting in Wisconsin".

The same line of attack came out of the Romney campaign in a midday statement, with the presumptive candidate reiterating his position that "Obamacare raises taxes on the American people by approximately 500 million dollars [and] cuts Medicare by approximately $500 million dollars".
The presumptive Republican presidential nominee's statements follow a speech in San Diego last week in which he lambasted Curiel as "a hater of Donald Trump" and "a total disgrace".
But by using old quotes and providing little context, the Obama campaign does not fully represent the presumptive Republican nominee's public statements on the issue.

Earlier Sunday, presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump issued a statement in which he suggested that Obama's leadership had contributed to the bloodshed.
"I am proud of the results we have achieved in education in Texas," Mr. Bush, the presumptive Republican nominee, said in a statement.
