Figure 1 summarises the interview scheme timeline.

In timeline interviews, interviewer and interviewee share the same large paper on which a timeline is drawn (Adriansen 2012).
The design of the timeline interview we used is presented in Table 5.

The brief telephone baseline assessment (adapted from Hodgins et al. 2009) will include a demographic profile (age, sex, education, marital status, income, ethnicity and racial status, employment status) and a gambling, mental health and treatment history including a timeline interview of types of gambling (online, land-based), frequency, and money spent for the past three months [ 48, 49].
One of the main objectives of the NCRN award to the University of Nebraska node is to investigate data quality associated with timeline interviewing as conducted with the American Time Use Survey (ATUS) time diary and the Survey of Income and Program Participation event history calendar (SIPP-EHC).
The first author coded the journal and transcripts of the timeline interviews thematically.
Data and materials consist of the first author's daily journal and the transcriptions of the timeline interviews.
